Not as beloved as the first one and often regarded as a rehash, it still is a great sequel and for me even ups the predecessor in certain regards despite some plot holes, due to the difficult production. It is still as fun and scary as the original and the characters are still as great as we remember them. Particularly Hudson feels more integrated into the team now.

But what really goes for it is the interesting plot that plays on a meta level in regards to the city of New York and the negative vibe it had during that time. It’s a love letter to the city and its people. Too bad it has never spawned a third movie…
