POSITIVES FIRST

You know, the 2nd season of True Detective really looks amazing, has awesome characters with incredible actors who portray them. The cinematography is awesome, especially the aerial shots, the music is really good and fits the somber atmosphere. The setting is not as exotic as the Louisianna outskirts, but unique in its own way which is a good thing. The few action scenes are really amazingly directed and the violence is gritty and real.

PLOT (NO SPOILERS)

Unfortunately nothing of that matters if you don’t know WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!!! Can please somebody explain me the plot of this season? Maybe I’m too dumb and the writers of the season too smart for me, or maybe the screenplay is just too smart for its own good. Man, I have NEVER felt so lost in a TV show. There is sooooo many side characters and side plots that intersect one another and don’t add up at all. At least not for me.

EPISODES 1 – 4 (NO SPOILERS)

To be honest, I can’t even judge that because I just don’t have any fucking clue what happened. While the first episode was really good, introducing the 4 main characters and the premise, right after the 2nd episode I already got lost. Then with the 3rd I tried to stay super focused but it lost me again. Then came the 4th episode. This time I put my earphones on to really check out of my environment in order to focus. Nope, didn’t work. However, the 4th episode had the best shootout I have seen since the movie Heat. Man, that was amazing!! I wish I knew why the hell it happened…

EPISODES 5 – 8 (NO SPOILERS)

Anyway, going on with episode 5, 6 and 7. These actually take place 3 months after the last episode and kinda feel like a break in the series because things have changed. So I thought, ok ok, maybe this time things will start to make sense in my head. Nope. Ughhhh…. Ok, let’s watch the finale. MAYBE it will all come together and I will have my mind blown because of how clever the entire plot actually is

CONCLUSION

Seriously, fuck you Season 2! The only thing that made sense to me was the subplot with Colin Farrell’s character and his wife and kid. Everything else I wondered about. So now that I have told you my watching experience with this season, which honestly felt like a drag and took me forever to finish, can somebody please summarize the plot for me in the comment section? Thanks!

P.s. I still give it a somewhat reasonable score because I feel like underneath all this chaos is some really amazing story. I’m really reaching here though. All the other things were great, but the screenplay can go to hell!
