My god, what a story! Did this really happen?? That’s just crazy! No wonder they made a movie out of this.
Anyway, the movie basically tells the story of this guy who came out of the slums to play at “Who wants to be millionaire” to, oh well, not gonna tell you, but it involves a longtime friend. I’m not gonna tell you how it ends, maybe you know already or have read about his story, but it’s great.
The film also nicely showcases life in India and all its dark sides. For some reason I always had this glamorous picture of India in my head. Not sure why, but now I know better 😉 one scene involving children and how they are being used by fucked up people to earn money really struck me. If you know what I’m talking about, F that shit! Also another scene showing the conflict between Hindu and Muslims just goes balls out. Man, religion is toxin to your mind, seriously! And even if not, people are generally too stupid to being exposed to it. I say that because religion triggers one of the most important events in the film… in a bad way…
Overall it’s a really cool drama with great cinematography and its signature Danny Boyle style. Good Indian actors too, some you may recognize from other Hollywood productions.
Also, the last 15 minutes are awesome, the tension, the suspense, the imagery! Also, stay for the credits and enjoy the little Bollywood homage 🙂
