Incredibly well made sci-fi action, that is considered a genre classic at this point. It oozes with cool style (aka sunglasses, monochrome cloaks and garment, soundtrack) and has introduced us to bullet time and slow-mo effects, which has caused a tsunami wave of imitators in the decade to follow. But none have ever reached the level of cool as Matrix did.
What the Wachowki’s have created here, is undeniably one of the most clever and philosophically penetrated motion pictures in the history of motion pictures. And still, instead of letting it derail into art-house, it keeps it balanced with enough action and cool dialogue for the mainstream summer audience to enjoy.
