INITIAL THOUGHT

One word, Chadwick Boseman! WOW. Wow wow wow! This may be my favorite performance in years. Exceptional talent and thats one of his first movies I guess.

PREMISE

The movie is a pretty straight forward biopick about James Brown, the Godfather of funk! 🙂 Best thing about the movie is that James Brown winks towards the viewer on occasion. I just love when main characters can break the 4th wall (That’s why I’m so excited about the upcoming Deadpool movie). But man, the perofmance is crazy! He even got the dance moves right.

STRUCTURE

Only thing I didn’t like is that it’s so straight forward. There are some nice flashbacks that tie things together and give context in the otherwise very generic order of events. But that’s fine, it’s just nothing special. But the performance!!! 😀 sorry I’m repeating myself 😉

Anyway, in case you don’t know the story of James Brown I won’t spoil it for you. Just let me say that you gonna be infected with funk after that 😉
