I can’t even describe what I just experienced. This franchise is one of the silliest and most ridiculous in Hollywood right now. And still, I can’t help it but I really really like it. I don’t know what it is. the cars? The characters? The action set pieces?? Probably a combination of all these things. Ever since Fast 5 the franchise is getting better and better, when did that ever happen?!
This movie actually is the most crazy of the all, basically it has turned the characters into superheroes with cars. The squad feels like the Avengers with cars, but in contrast to Marvel the action is just awesome. Yes I could do without some of the CGI, but man, I still was on the edge of my seat. By that time I feel for the characters and the franchise has established that people can and will die. This has risen the stakes for the movies benefit and actually makes for some good drama here and there
Believe it or not, but the was three scenes where I had tears in my eyes, and by the very end I really had to hold myself together not let one of my tears drip out of my eyes. Sorry, just can’t let myself go in the plane when it’s bright and people are next to me 😉
What else to say? Jason Statham made for an awesome and memorable villain – the best in the franchise up until that point really. I wish it had not The Rock in it, but the few scenes he was in, he was awesome.
Also, props to James Wan in filming some really cool fights. Tony Jaa actually had some nice moments to shine and show off his fighting and stunt skills. He wasn’t wasted, so I was happy about that.
Hmm… Can’t wait for the next installment! 🙂
